I grew up riding horses in the summers and attending horse camp. I was never able to actually own a horse....and before long, life got in the way - college, marriage, three wonderful children, and now three glorious grandchildren! About twenty years ago, I was able to realize my dream and own my very own horse! One horse became two, then the horse show world took over. I have had Paso Fino horses for the duration. In the last five years I have added Gypsy horses to the mix, and today, I have one paso, two gypsy horses, two dogs, and three cats.....
I truly enjoy taking care of these horses, almost as much as I love riding. As anyone with horses knows, it is a lifestyle! My day revolves around the horses' schedules, not mine!
Today I am fortunate enough to live in a very "horsey" area, which means that my life really is totally horse- and animal-related and, of course, family, when I can encourage them to come to the farm.
I take the responsibility of sharing my life with animals very seriously, studying, taking classes, and learning a lot along the way. I have always wanted a hands on job with the horses, and began by taking the course for equine sport massage therapy and becoming a qualified ESMT. For quite a while, I used it mainly on my own horses, or on friends' horses at the shows. I always seem to have my hands on the horse!
Years passed, and I found the Sumerel Therapy System. It worked wonders on my horses, and then on my dogs, my cats, and my friends' animals. More importantly, the results were reliable, repeatable, and quite extraordinary. So it seemed like the perfect addition to my repertoire. And I have always been interested in energy work, so I added Reiki to the mix.
Then came the saddles, and I am thrilled beyond measure to be able to offer these as part of my Good for the Horse work. Not only are the saddles good for the horse, but they are moderately priced, comfortable for the rider, and well constructed. All of my horses really enjoy the treeless saddle, especially the Paso Fino!
It is all so very exciting, and I am learning more every day. The animals are such wonderful teachers....we just have to pay attention!
